Dear friends and colleagues!
It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to the the 12th I-BFM Biennial Childhood Leukemia and Lymphoma Symposium (CLLS). We are very glad to have our traditional meeting hosted for the first time in Spain, in Valencia. We will be in a special country, and I am sure it will be a special meeting!
Since the beginning, we thought to have the CLLS meeting as an important opportunity for fellows, researchers and junior faculty to highlight novel basic and clinical information on malignant hematological malignancies. The keynote topics of this conference are acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), translational research in ALL and lymphoma, immunotherapy and targeted agents in leukemia and lymphoma, myeloid disorders, therapy and outcome of leukemia and lymphoma in low- and middle-income countries, optimal supportive care in malignant hematologic malignancies, amongst others.
As always, we want to keep the “I-BFM and CLLS atmosphere”, which has been developed in the last 40 years on the idea of building networks across borders by being inclusive, and promote networking.
The CLLS will be followed by the 31st I-BFM meeting embedded in the SIOP Europe Annual Meeting to strength the voice and visibility of Pediatric Oncology in Europe. After the successful first edition 2019 in Prague, we believe that this is the direction to move forward.
On behalf of the entire I-BFM Board, I would like to express my large gratitude to Andishe Attarbaschi, as the CLLS Scientific Chair, Dr. Susana Rives for her kind offer to host both meetings in her country, and the local organizing committee for their support and input. I very much thank the Committee Chairs for their advice and suggestions in preparing the final programme, and all contributors for their scientific input.
Moreover, we have had great organizational support from the people from C-IN. Thanks for that, as well.
Enjoy the meeting!
Prof. Andrea Biondi
